Hameedi Confectioners

This legendary sweet shop is located at the heart of MJ market. The last Nizam who was fond of their Jauzi Halwa declared the shop as their official sweet shop and it named after the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. The Turkish connection started even before that. The founder's father came from Turkey to serve in the Nizam's army. Jauzi Halwa is their signature dish, a rich Turkish dessert that leaves a distinct nutmegy aftertaste. Other must try sweets are, Ashrafi – an almond and saffron based sweet that has the imprint of the Nizam's Ashrafi gold coin. Badam Ke Jalli – similar to Ashrafi in ingredients, but differs in shape.
